The Case for More Orchestra Covers

Here’s something I don’t see enough people talking about: orchestra covers of songs.

Sure, every now and then you’ll come across one—maybe a movie theme, a classic rock hit, or a big pop song that’s been reimagined with a full orchestra. And when you do, it’s absolutely breathtaking. There’s just something about taking a song we already know and love, and then layering it with the depth, emotion, and sheer power of an orchestra. It hits completely differently.

But the thing is, there are so many songs out there that would sound amazing as orchestral pieces… and they just don’t exist. Nobody’s made them yet. Which honestly feels like a missed opportunity. Imagine your favorite song, but swelling strings, thunderous percussion, and brass fanfares are carrying it instead. Goosebumps, guaranteed.

I really think we need more of this. More artists, arrangers, and orchestras taking risks and turning unexpected songs into grand symphonic experiences. Because music is already powerful—but when you give it the full orchestra treatment? It becomes larger than life.
