We Need More Metal Covers
Alright, let’s talk about another underrated music lane: metal covers of songs.
Now, metal covers do exist, and when they hit, they really hit. Taking a song that wasn’t originally heavy and giving it the full metal treatment—crunching guitars, pounding drums, growling bass, maybe even some screaming—can completely flip how you hear it. Sometimes it makes a song more intense, sometimes it brings out emotions that weren’t obvious before, and sometimes it just turns a mellow track into an absolute banger.
But here’s the thing: there still aren’t nearly enough. There are so many songs across genres—pop, hip-hop, country, you name it—that would sound amazing if reimagined as metal. Yet when you go looking, it’s often the same handful of popular tracks that have gotten the metal cover treatment. The world of possibilities is way bigger than that.
I think we need more of this. More creativity, more experimentation, more unexpected songs being transformed into metal monsters. Because honestly, sometimes the heaviest, most epic versions of songs are the ones you never saw coming.
I would agree with this. I saw Fozzy cover SOS (by Abba) and it was great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iO5YHFvYLJM&list=RDiO5YHFvYLJM&start_radio=1
