Why We Need More Reggae Covers
Here’s another lane of music that I think is way too overlooked: reggae covers of songs.
Now don’t get me wrong, there are some reggae covers out there, and when they’re done right, they’re super chill, full of groove, and give the original song a whole new life. But the truth is, there just aren’t enough of them.
Think about it—there are so many tracks that would sound incredible with that laid-back reggae rhythm, the off-beat strums, the smooth basslines, and that easygoing vibe. But when you go searching, a lot of times you come up empty. And that’s a shame, because reggae has a way of transforming songs into something warmer, more soulful, and honestly just fun to listen to.
I really believe we need more of this. More artists experimenting with reggae-style covers, more unexpected songs being reimagined in that island groove. Because some songs were practically made to be reggae covers—they just don’t know it yet.
