Eminem, What the Fuck Are You Doing?

Okay, Eminem. What the fuck are we doing here?

So apparently Eminem is going to be featured on Kid Rock’s upcoming Christian album, Halfway 2 Jesus. The song is called “7 Sins,” and yes, this is actually happening. This isn't some fake track listing or AI-generated bullshit. Eminem's camp has confirmed that the collaboration is real.

And look, Eminem and Kid Rock have a history. Eminem appeared on Kid Rock's “Fuck Off” way back in 1998, and Kid Rock later appeared in the music video for Eminem's “Berzerk.” So this isn't exactly two complete strangers suddenly deciding to work together.

But here's the fucking problem.

Kid Rock is openly MAGA. He has been one of Donald Trump's most visible celebrity supporters. And Eminem has spent years being publicly hostile toward Trump.

Remember 2017?

At the BET Hip-Hop Awards, Eminem delivered “The Storm,” an entire freestyle aimed at Donald Trump. And he didn't just criticize Trump. He specifically addressed his own fans who supported Trump.

He basically drew a line in the sand.

If you were a Trump supporter, Eminem told you to fuck off.

That wasn't some vague “I disagree with Trump” statement. He explicitly told his fans that they had to choose between supporting him and supporting Trump.

And now, almost a decade later, he's appearing on an album by one of Trump's biggest celebrity supporters.

Come the fuck on.

Now, before somebody jumps down my throat, no, I am not saying Eminem is suddenly MAGA. I'm not saying he supports Trump now. I'm not saying working with Kid Rock automatically means Eminem agrees with everything Kid Rock believes.

Kid Rock himself has basically acknowledged that they don't agree politically. He says they're still friends despite their political differences and that he hopes the collaboration demonstrates that people can remain friends even when they disagree politically.

And that's where I have a problem with Eminem's old stance.

Because Eminem didn't merely say, “I disagree with Trump, but my fans can believe whatever they want.”

He drew a fucking line.

He told Trump-supporting fans to fuck off.

So if you're going to make that kind of statement publicly, and then years later willingly contribute to an album by one of Trump's most outspoken supporters, people are absolutely justified in looking at that and saying, “Wait a fucking minute.”

Because what exactly was that line supposed to mean?

Was it only about Donald Trump personally? Was it about Trump's policies? Was it about what supporting Trump represented to Eminem at the time? Did his position change? Does he now believe political differences shouldn't affect personal or professional relationships?

If so, fucking say that.

Because otherwise, it looks like Eminem is asking people to take a principle seriously when it's convenient and then making an exception when it's somebody he has known for decades.

And honestly, that's the part that bothers me more than the collaboration itself.

Artists can collaborate with whoever the hell they want. Eminem is a grown-ass man. Kid Rock is a grown-ass man. They can make whatever music they want together.

But when you've previously told your own fans to fuck off for supporting a particular political figure, you don't get to be surprised when people notice that you're now collaborating with one of that political figure's biggest celebrity supporters.

That's the consequence of drawing a line that fucking clearly.

And maybe there's something about this collaboration that I don't know. Maybe Eminem's verse addresses this exact contradiction. Maybe there's context that will become clearer once the album comes out. Maybe the two of them genuinely have a friendship that exists completely separately from politics.

Fine.

I'll listen to the song before pretending I know exactly what Eminem is saying.

But right now?

Eminem, you spent years telling us where you stood.

So forgive me if I'm looking at this collaboration and going:

What the fuck happened to that line in the sand?

Music can bring people together despite political differences. I actually believe that.

But if you're going to preach that message now, then you also have to reckon with what you said back then.

Because otherwise, yeah, Eminem is going to look pretty fucking full of shit.
